My Story

Dr. Kristek was born in Delaware and was raised in the suburbs of Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas. She first rode a pony at 3 years old and that sparked a passion for all things horses. She is an accomplished equestrian, with numerous accolades across disciplines including AQHYA World and Reserve World Championship titles, USEF awards, and competing on the Kansas State University NCAA Equestrian Team during college.

She attended Kansas State University to complete her undergraduate and veterinary degrees. During vet school, she researched diseases of the heart and lungs in the Clarenburg Cardiopulmonary Laboratory and has several publications. She was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society,  and was an inaugural winner of the prestigious Coyote Rock Ranch Scholarship, which is awarded to the top students in the country pursuing careers in equine practice.

Following graduation in 2017, she completed an internship and ABVP equine practice residency program at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, OK. She moved to the Enid area in 2020 and began gaining experience in small animal general and emergency practice before joining the Staerkel Vet team. She enjoys cheering on the K-State Wildcats with her husband and two children. In her spare time, she enjoys playing pickleball, riding horses, and traveling.
